ORLANDO, Fla. — Walt Disney World has announced an opening date for its newest resort.
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge will open July 1, 2027, along Bay Lake in the Magic Kingdom resort area.
The hotel will have 967 rooms, including studios, villas and freestanding waterfront Lake Houses. Rooms will draw inspiration from Disney films including “Bambi,” “Brother Bear,” “Encanto,” “Fantasia” and “Pocahontas.”
Disney Vacation Club members can make early rental reservations beginning Oct. 6. Walt Disney World annual passholders can book beginning Oct. 7, followed by the general public on Oct. 8.
The resort will be the first entirely new hotel to open at Walt Disney World since Disney’s Riviera Resort debuted in December 2019.
Disney first announced the project in 2018 under the name Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge. Construction began the following year but stopped during the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney revived the project and announced its new name in 2024.
Lakeshore Lodge is being built on the former site of Disney’s River Country water park, which closed in 2001.
The resort’s rooms will range from duo studios for two guests to three-bedroom grand villas that can accommodate up to 12. Select rooms will offer views of Magic Kingdom fireworks.
One- and two-bedroom Lake Houses will feature A-frame architecture, waterfront porches, full kitchens and artwork inspired by “Brother Bear.” Deluxe studios and larger villas will include design elements from “Bambi,” while the resort’s grand villas will feature artwork inspired by “Fantasia.”
The property will also have three dining locations: Moonglade, a waterfront table-service restaurant; Bay Lake Provisions, an all-day marketplace; and Paint Out Point Bar & Grill near the pool.
Other planned amenities include a zero-entry pool, waterslide, lazy river, children’s play areas and a lounge overlooking Bay Lake.
