BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The White House has unveiled its new National Space Transportation Policy, setting an ambitious goal of supporting more than 1,000 launches and reentries each year by 2030.
The policy also calls for more investment in space infrastructure, expanded public-private partnerships, and faster permitting.
It directs NASA to develop commercially supported lunar logistics architecture and explore commercial robotic missions to Mars.
Space analyst Dale Ketcham says the policy is just that, and appropriations are what’s really going to drive what comes to fruition.
Ketcham also says expanding launch infrastructure beyond Florida, including in Texas, California, Alaska, and Virginia, would strengthen U.S. space capabilities and national security.
But he says Florida is still positioned to capture a major share of that growth.
