New Smyrna Beach to host public forum on sidewalk expansion plans

“This project is intended to improve safety and mobility as part of our five-year sidewalk plan”

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — New Smyrna Beach will hold a public forum to discuss a proposed sidewalk expansion.

The project would add sidewalks along the west side of South Pine Street, from the Flagler Avenue shuffleboard courts to Ocean Avenue. It would also add sidewalks along the south side of Ocean Avenue, from South Peninsula Avenue to South Atlantic Avenue.

The forum is scheduled for Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. at the Coronado Civic Center.

“This project is intended to improve safety and mobility as part of our five-year sidewalk plan,” Public Works Director David Ray said.

The meeting will begin with a brief overview of the project, followed by a public question-and-answer session.

“After we get community feedback at the forum, it’ll be presented to the City Commission for review and a vote in late November or early December,” Ray said.
