No detentions at Central Florida airports following president's travel ban

ORLANDO, Fla. — There have been no reported detentions of immigrants to the United States at Central Florida airports since President Donald Trump's controversial order concerning Muslims, the office of U.S. Rep. Val Demings, D-Fla., says.

An aide for the Orlando-area representative said they are monitoring the situation and are in contact with local Muslim advocacy groups.

The aide said that Muslim leaders will be hosting a rally at the Muslim Academy of Greater Orlando at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, which Demings plans to attend.

Protests have broken out at multiple international airports across the country since Trump signed an executive order Friday banning legal U.S. residents and visa-holders from seven Muslim-majority nations from entering the United States for at least 90 days.

Airlines around the world are turning away passengers, refunding tickets and rebooking flights in the aftermath of Trump's immigration order.
