No jail time for mother arrested in connection on child neglect charges

ORLANDO, Fla. — A mother who had been arrested on child neglect charges will not be staying in jail.

Justin Polk Jr., 2, died at the Countryside Inn on Lee Road in June 2014.

No one has been charged with the toddler's murder.

The boy's mother, Merissa Anderson, and her boyfriend, Jonathan Charapata, had been arrested on charges that they abused Polk's siblings.

The couple pleaded no contest.

Anderson will serve eight years of supervised probation.

Charapata will spend five years in prison.
