Ocala official receives regional Risk Manager of the Year award

Richard Dennis was recognized for advancing employee training, safety technology and incident-reporting practices

OCALA, Fla. — City of Ocala Risk Manager Richard Dennis has been named Risk Manager of the Year for the North and Central Florida territory.

Public Risk Underwriters of Florida presented Dennis with the award during Tuesday’s Ocala City Council meeting. The organization said the award recognizes his leadership and work to improve the city’s risk-management practices.

Dennis has served as Ocala’s risk manager since November 2021 and has more than 25 years of experience in the public and private sectors.

The city credited Dennis with helping introduce new inspection and incident-reporting tools, employee safety training and improvements to Ocala’s fleet safety program.

Public Risk Underwriters of Florida administers public-entity risk pools and provides underwriting, loss-control and claims-oversight services.
