Ocala fatal shooting suspect arrested

Ocala, Fla. — Ocala police arrested a man they believe shot and killed another man during an argument outside a liquor store.

Police identified and obtained a warrant for 49-year-old Benson Kinney Saturday following the Friday night shooting.

Investigators said Kinney pulled out a gun during a fight and fired into the crowd, killing 27-year-old Ezekiel Tuggerson.

Ocala police were called to A & A Discount Beverage on Northwest 10th street around 6:45 p.m. Friday for a disturbance.

According to an arrest affidavit for Kinney, surveillance video from the store shows him and two other men getting into an argument with a group of five men that included the victim.

Police said the argument escalated into a fight at which point Kinney pulled out the weapon.

Tuggerson was driven to Munroe Regional Medical Center where he later died.

Multiple witnesses were able to identify Kinney as the man who fired the gun, according to investigators.

Police have obtained a warrant for Kinney for second-degree murder but have not located him.

Police did not say what led to the fight.

Kinney is being held in the Alachua County Jail.
