Orange County Corrections donates more than 100 suit jackets to men in need

ORLANDO, Fla. — With the lack of affordable housing around the country, many shelters are seeing a significant increase in people needing help.

But in Orlando, that goes beyond food and shelter. There is also a shortage of men’s clothing, which makes it even tougher for people searching for jobs.

At the Christian Service Center in Parramore, nearly 400 of the area’s homeless seek some sort of help every day. They provide meals, job counseling and housing placement.

On Tuesday, the Orange County Corrections Department handed out more than 100 jackets. It’s a barrier for thousands of the area’s homeless looking for a job.

According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, men make up more than 70% of people living on the streets.
