Central Floridians of the Jewish faith celebrate start of Hanukkah

WINTER PARK, Fla. — Central Floridians of the Jewish faith gathered Sunday to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah.

Local celebrations, including Hanukkah on the Park in Winter Park, are expecting hundreds of people to attend.

The crowds are a big change from last year, when the pandemic prompted religious leaders to move the event to the amphitheater at Lake Eola.

“We’re back and we’re really inspired by the absence people took,” said Rabbi Sholom Dubov with the Chabad of Greater Orlando. “It gave people a chance to recognize the importance of getting together.”

This is the 20th year for the celebration in Winter Park, and the 37th year in Orlando.
