WINDERMERE, Fla. — Orange County children and families can get fitted for free bike helmets, practice riding skills and learn safety tips during a free event at Keene’s Crossing Elementary School this Saturday.
Bike/Walk Central Florida’s SAFE Travelers Youth Program is partnering with the Keene’s Crossing PTA and Scout Pack 320 for the bike safety event, set for 9 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 3 at the school, 5240 Keene’s Pheasant Drive.
Certified helmet fitters will be on site to properly fit and distribute free helmets to participating children. Families will also receive bike-safety education geared toward parents and young riders.
Children will be able to practice their riding skills in a supervised setting as organizers work to build confidence and teach safe habits for walking, biking and rolling through their neighborhoods.
Participants who complete the safety course will receive free Kelly’s Ice Cream.
