Happening this weekend: Winter Park Library ribbon cutting, open house

WINTER PARK, Fla. — After more than half a decade of planning, the new Winter Park Library & Events Center will open to the public for the first time this weekend.

The library will host a ribbon-cutting at 9 a.m. Saturday with a community open house to follow from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“After seven years of meticulous planning, budgeting, imagining, creating, designing and building, we are thrilled to celebrate the grand opening with our residents, partners and guests,” City Manager Randy Knight said in a statement.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will include remarks from city dignitaries, library leadership and partners and special remarks from architect Sir David Adjaye. And the open house will include live music, outdoor games, character appearances, storytelling and a scavenger hunt.
