HORIZON WEST, Fla. — Public Works crews have completed sidewalk and pedestrian safety improvements along Hartzog Road in Horizon West in time for the start of the school year.
The upgrades establish a pedestrian route for neighborhood students walking to the new Ovation Elementary School.
The infrastructure updates are intended to enhance safety and accessibility for students and families traveling to and from the new elementary campus.
The project included adding a section of sidewalk to close an existing gap along Hartzog Road. Workers also installed a new pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Luna Harvest Avenue and Hartzog Road.
Additional safety features installed along the route include curb ramps, pavement markings and signage.
