WINTER PARK, Fla. — Winter Park High School is planning a January homecoming.
According to tentative plans, it’ll include traditional dress up days, the crowning of a queen and king and possibly even a parade and dance.

If a parade is approved it would be outside along Park Avenue with safety precautions in place.
Some parents are for both activities but a concerned community member and the teachers union think a dance would be irresponsible.
The city of Winter Park said the school hasn’t submitted a permit application, but is in talks to host the parade.

Dr. Raul Pino with the Orange County Health Department said he is urging against large gatherings, especially in January.
A district spokesperson said as far as he knows there has not been a school dance so far this year.
The district emphasized these are tentative plans dependent on district approval and guidelines from the CDC, Florida Department of Health in Orange County and city of Winter Park.
