Florence was scheduled go to trial in April of last year, but COVID-19 delayed cases, and now a plea hearing has been set instead.

Florence didn’t pull the trigger of the gun that killed Williams, but police said he was part of the crime that lead to the 16-year-old’s death.

Orlando police said Florence and Williams tried to rob a man for his cellphone.

According to detectives, Curtis Fulcher told police he was trying to sell an iPhone X on the website LetGo, and got a message on Jan. 1, 2019 saying someone was interested.

The next day, Fulcher and his wife drove to Parramore to make the sale.

Police said the alleged scheme involved Florence and Williams working together.

Fulcher told police it was Williams who tried to grab the cellphone, and Fulcher said the teen reached for his waistband, so he reached for his own gun and shot Williams.

Florence said he had already fled the scene before the shooting and plead not guilty.
