ORLANDO, Fla. — Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a teen who stole a car with a 5-year-old girl inside.
Officers around 7:40 p.m. responded to Gabriel’s Sub Shop in the 4000 block of Edgewater Drive in reference to a kidnapping. The victim told police his fiancée and daughter were in the car while he was ordering food.
A few minutes later, his fiancée came inside to check on him and left his 5-year-old daughter sleeping in the unlocked vehicle, according to police.
Within a matter of seconds, the thief entered the victim’s vehicle and fled the parking lot, police said. The victim jumped in front of the vehicle, but the suspect maneuvered around them and fled eastbound on Edgewater Drive.
After a search was conducted, police found the vehicle in the 2600 block of Ardsley Court with the 5-year-old inside, unharmed.
The suspect is described as a black male, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 170 pounds with a black, flat-top haircut. He is believed to be around 17 years old. He was last seen wearing a red jacket with a hoodie and white shorts.
