OCOEE, Fla. — A young child found wandering alone through an Ocoee neighborhood was safely reunited with an aunt after several neighbors stepped in to help, according to a Facebook post shared today by the Ocoee Police Department.
Police said the neighbors called 911, stayed with the child and helped responding officers search for the child’s home.
They also shared information that ultimately led officers to the child’s aunt, who had been searching for the child.
Officers confirmed the child’s identity and safely reunited the child with the aunt. The child was unharmed, police said.
The department thanked everyone who assisted and praised the community’s willingness to look out for one another.
“We love to see neighbors looking out for one another,” the department wrote. “Thank you to everyone who stepped up to help.”
