ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida is in for a storybook summer day Sunday, with hot and muggy conditions, partly cloudy skies and highs climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s. Orlando is expected to reach about 93 degrees.
Most areas should remain dry through midday before sea breeze showers and thunderstorms develop during the afternoon and evening, mainly from Orlando westward.
As summer break winds down and students prepare to return to school next week, the weather pattern will shift.
Forecasts call for drier skies and even hotter temperatures, with afternoon highs reaching the mid-90s.
Heat index values are expected to range from 102 to 108 degrees, increasing the risk of heat-related illness for anyone spending extended time outdoors.
