Orlando health care clinic owners headed to prison for Medicare fraud

ORLANDO, Fla. — An Orlando health care clinic owner was sentenced to five years in prison in connection to a $2.4 million health care fraud scheme, officials with the Department of Justice said Wednesday.

Officials said Juan Carlos Delgado, 58, and his wife, Nereyda Infante, 48, pleaded guilty in June to conspiracy to commit health care fraud. Infante was sentenced to one year and one day in prison, officials said.

Delgado and Infante were also ordered to pay $1,520,850 in restitution and to forfeit $1,520,850, according to officials.

Officials said the two owned several health care clinics in Orlando under variations of the name Prestige Medical.

They said the Delgado and Infante fraudulently billed Medicare for services that were never provided and for drugs there were not prescribed or administered.

According to officials, the two billed Medicare approximately $2.4 million.
