ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando Health has finalized its acquisition of RMC Health System in Anniston, Alabama. The 375-bed facility has been officially renamed Baptist Health Calhoun Hospital.
The transaction expands Orlando Health’s operations in Alabama. It follows the health system’s 2024 acquisition of a majority interest in Birmingham-based Baptist Health.
Baptist Health Calhoun Hospital includes outpatient facilities and specialty practices. The facility employs nearly 2,000 staff members and 200 physicians across various clinical specialties, including cancer care, orthopedics, and maternity services.
In 2024, Orlando Health purchased a majority stake in Baptist Health in Birmingham. That system encompasses five hospitals across central Alabama with more than 1,700 licensed beds, 58 primary and specialty care clinics, 2,600 affiliated physicians, and more than 6,100 team members.
Local officials said the collaboration with Orlando Health is intended to expand health care access across the region and support plans to strengthen the Anniston hospital’s role as a regional referral center.
Orlando Health plans to invest in the facility over the next five years. Planned investments include equipment upgrades, technology enhancements, and the implementation of an electronic health record system.
