ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute and the Orlando Fire Department partnered on Thursday for a joint spine injury training session ahead of the upcoming football season.
This joint exercise was all about helping manage spine-related injuries that might happen on the football field.
It was a great way to prepare Orlando Health physicians, ensuring they’re ready to provide medical care right on the sidelines at upcoming athletic events this fall, or even in their future medical careers.
The session began with engaging short talks about spinal cord injuries, setting the stage for some exciting practical demonstrations. During the hands-on part, the friendly emergency medical services crews from the Orlando Fire Department kindly demonstrated how to safely position a patient on a spine board in emergency situations.
