ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando Health marked the opening of its new primary care practice in Viera with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday. The location represents Orlando Health’s first primary care expansion in Brevard County.
The new practice addresses high patient demand in Brevard County, where the need for primary care physicians continues to outpace available supply. Hospital officials said the facility aims to reduce appointment wait times and improve care coordination by connecting local patients to Orlando Health’s broader network of specialists and hospital services.
The Viera practice brings two primary care doctors to Brevard County: Dr. Srividya Kannan and Dr. Anita Fazeli. Both physicians attended Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School together from 2008 to 2010. Kannan was born at Cape Canaveral Hospital and raised in the local area, where her parents still reside. She graduated as valedictorian from Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School in 2013 and provides family medicine services for patients of all ages, including children.
Kannan emphasized the importance of reducing local wait times for medical appointments. “As someone who was born and raised in Brevard County, it’s incredibly meaningful to return home and care for the community that helped shape me,” Kannan said. “It’s important for patients to see a primary care doctor quickly rather than sit on a waiting list and we’re focused on helping reduce those wait times to help meet the needs of this community.”
Fazeli moved to the area during high school and graduated from Viera High School in 2013. She speaks fluent Persian and conversational Spanish, providing medical care for patients ages 16 and older. Together, both physicians are helping expand access to culturally responsive care for the region’s population.
Fazeli highlighted the role of long-term patient relationships in preventative medicine. “Primary care is about building trusted relationships and helping patients stay healthy throughout every stage of life,” Fazeli said. “By expanding access to care close to home, we can help patients take a more proactive approach to their health and well-being.”
