Orlando leaders to make special proclamation to honor Martin Luther King Jr.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Leaders in Orlando will make a special proclamation Monday to honor the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr.

Orlando commissioners and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer are set to proclaim this week as Dr. Martin Luther King Holiday Week in the city.

The commission held several events on Sunday to highlight the work of the civil rights icon.

The events included a marching band as well as a candlelight vigil.

There was also a presentation about King’s words, which still resonate today.

The city’s event will occur at 2 p.m. at Orlando City Hall.
