Death in Osteen conservation area ruled a homicide

OSTEEN, Fla. — Deputies in Volusia County are investigating the discovery of body found in a car on Reed Ellis Road in the Osteen conservation area.

The man found in the late-model Nissan Maxima was identified as Andre Robertson, 28. His death was ruled a homicide.

“There were signs of trauma, physical trauma, that lead us to believe, well, we’ll investigate to find out what caused that trauma,” Volusia County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Andrew Gant said.

Robertson's body was found by an officer with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission at about 11:30 a.m., deputies said.

The car was found in a parking lot off Reed Ellis Road near State Road 415.

Investigators have not said if the car belongs Robertson.

Deputies have not given details on the type of trauma the man’s body sustained.

Investigation into the death is ongoing.
