ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police are investigating a third shooting in downtown.
Investigators say the shooting happened two days after a reported shooting outside a music venue, and about a week before a deadly shooting downtown.
A police report said the Nov. 22 shooting started with a fight over a knife and ended with a drive-by shooting.
The report said the suspect got into an argument with a bouncer outside Ono Nightclub on South Orange Avenue.
The suspect walked up to the bouncer and requested his knife back, the report said.
Police said the bouncer told the suspect, “He didn’t know what he was talking about.”
Investigators said the suspect tried to jump the rope outside the club to get inside the building.
Police said the suspect walked away, but drove by the club about 10 minutes later and fired a single shot.
The bullet struck the hood of a vehicle then ricocheted off the hood and went through a front glass window.
No one was injured.
The shooting happened two days after reports of gunshots outside The Beacham sent hundreds of people spilling out into North Orange Avenue, and five days before police said someone shot and killed a 23-year-old man in the same area.
Orlando resident Steve Engel said his nightly run takes him past Ono Nightclub and he said the recent crime has him on edge.
“It’s just a very uncomfortable feeling when you’re out here,” he said. “I may be running or walking or whatever, and someone’s going to come along and just blast my head off.”
Resident Aysha Alexander said she likes to walk around the downtown area with her young children, but doesn’t think she’ll be doing it as often.
“My fear is, I’m walking and out of nowhere someone starts shooting,” she said.
In the past four months, there were hundreds of calls for service within a half-mile radius of the club.
There were two calls for an assault and shooting, eight calls for robbery and one call for a carjacking.
“Things are just happening too fast and too furious,” said Engel.
