ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Science Center officially renamed its movie and performance venue the VyStar Adventure Theater on Wednesday evening.
The change follows a $1 million commitment from VyStar Credit Union toward the center’s Unlock Science Campaign.
The financial commitment supports the center’s broader campaign to expand access to science, technology, engineering and math education across the region.
The newly named theater serves as an interactive venue where visitors can watch educational films, attend live science demonstrations and participate in community presentations.
Leadership from both organizations attended Wednesday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, including Orlando Science Center President and CEO JoAnn Newman, VyStar Credit Union President and CEO Brian Wolfburg and VyStar Senior Vice President and Foundation President Patricia McElroy. Newman spoke about the partnership between the science center and the credit union.
“Tonight was about much more than putting a new name on our theater,” Newman said. “It honors the strong relationship between two organizations that believe deeply in investing in people, families and the future of our community. We are incredibly grateful to VyStar for believing in our work, investing in our future and helping us continue to grow our impact.”
McElroy also noted the shared goals of both institutions in promoting educational programs throughout the region.
“At VyStar, we believe investing in education is one of the most meaningful ways we can strengthen our communities and inspire future generations,” McElroy said.
“The VyStar Adventure Theater will create opportunities for families, students and visitors to explore, discover and experience science in new ways. We’re proud to partner with Orlando Science Center to help make learning more accessible, engaging and inspiring for people of all ages.”
Following the official ceremony, attendees viewed a preview of a 3D film and watched a live demonstration titled KABOOM! The interactive show showcased scientific principles surrounding combustion, energy, pressure and colorful chemistry.
