ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida families and advocates came together Saturday to raise awareness about sickle cell disease.
Sickle Cell Conquerors of Central Florida held its second annual Sickle Cell Awareness Walk on Sept. 19 at Carver Middle School in Orlando.
The event brought families, advocates and community organizations together to raise awareness and support people living with sickle cell disease across Central Florida.
The Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research’s Orlando Center of Excellence also participated in the walk as part of Sickle Cell Awareness Month.
Organizers said their mission includes advocating for people with sickle cell disease and connecting families with resources and support.
