OSCEOLA, Fla. — The Salvation Army of Osceola County’s Mobile Food Pantry has seen a 68% increase in household participation since launching in June, as demand for food assistance continues to grow.
The program served 25 households in June, 19 in July and 41 in August. Forty-two households have pre-registered for September’s distribution.
Each pantry bag includes about 13 nonperishable food items, valued at an estimated $22 to $24, including canned goods, pasta, rice, beans, cereal, oatmeal and shelf-stable dairy products.
The next distribution is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Osceola Community Health Services at Poinciana, 109 N. Doverplum Ave.
The Salvation Army is accepting nonperishable food and financial donations. Food donations can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays at Kissimmee First Church of the Nazarene, 1550 Mill Slough Road.
