Two accused of stealing thousands worth of diesel fuel

TITUSVILLE, Fla.,None — Two south Florida men are facing charges, accused of stealing thousands of dollars in diesel fuel from a Brevard County gas station.

The owner of the BP gas station on I-95 and Stuckway Road in Scottsmoor said the pair had been stealing from him for months.

Deputies said the men, 38-year-old Ignacio Alfonso and 39-year-old Alexis Limonta, would pump 200 to 300 gallons into their semi trucks without the store knowing and then pay on a different pump for 50 gallons.

Investigators said surveillance video captured the men pulling into the BP gas station. They said the men hooked a skimming device up to the pump that bypasses the payment mechanism so they could steal fuel without it registering.

In the surveillance video, one of the accused thieves can be seen going inside the store to pay for gas, while deputies said his accomplice was busy rigging the other pump to get free fuel.

"So far they have stolen diesel of 1,500 or so gallons,” said gas station owner Vipul Patel. “That is $6,000 or $7,000."

The store manager said he believes the father and son have been stealing his gas since August.

Deputies said the Alfonso and Limonta were charged with grand theft, scheming to defraud and obtaining fuel by fraud, which are all felonies.
