BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A major crash shut down part of I-95 in Brevard County on Tuesday.
Troopers said two people were airlifted to a hospital after a semi-truck collided with a Volvo on I-95 southbound near mile marker 226.
According to preliminary information, the semi-truck was merging into the travel lane from a rest area when it entered the direct path of the southbound Volvo traveling in the outside lane.
The impact ejected both the driver and the passenger of the Volvo.
Both individuals were airlifted to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital.
The driver of the semi-truck was not transported for medical treatment and remained on the scene following the crash.
All southbound lanes on I-95 were blocked as a result of the collision.
Traffic was directed to move through the inside shoulder.
Authorities stated that the crash remains under investigation.
