OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Osceola County school leaders approved to delay the start of the 2020-2021 school year by two weeks, to August 24.
Officials said teachers, VPK paraprofessionals and leads, IEP assistants, lab assistants, child development assistants, and pre-K ESE staff members will return to work on August 10.

Families of the more than 69,000 students who attend one of the district’s 53 schools will have three options. The first option is to send children back to their assigned school for face-to-face learning, as they always have.
The second option is to do digital online classes with their assigned school.
The third option will be Osceola Virtual School for students from kindergarten to 12th grade.
Parents are required to select which option they prefer for each of their children by July 15.
Leaders will review its already approved plan with parents and teachers during a meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The district said school board members will be on-site live, and the meeting will be open to the public with limited seating for the first 20 people due to social distancing guidelines. Doors to the boardroom will be open at 5:00 p.m. Attendees will be required to wear a mask, and temperatures will be checked as you enter the building.
The meeting will be live-streamed to EduVision and will accommodate an unlimited number of viewers.
