MAITLAND, Fla. — Pineapple Healthcare plans to open a Maitland clinic in January 2027, expanding its Central Florida network as it marks five years since opening its first Orlando location.
The nonprofit said renovations began last week on the suite that will house its fifth clinic.
Pineapple Healthcare provides primary care, HIV and sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, prevention services and mental health care.
Fifth clinic follows regional expansion
Pineapple opened its first clinic in Orlando in 2021, followed by Lakeland in 2024, Kissimmee in 2025 and East Orlando this year.
CEO Ethan Suarez said the expansion responds to demand for accessible care.
“People might come to us initially for PrEP, but then they realize they can see the provider they’ve come to trust for all their needs, whether they don’t feel well, or they want an annual checkup,” Suarez said.
Additional services planned
The Maitland location will offer mental health counseling, according to the nonprofit.
Pineapple also plans to expand women’s health services in the coming months, including Pap tests for cervical cancer screening.
In September, the organization introduced high-resolution anoscopy for anal cancer screening at its Orlando clinic.
The announcement did not provide a specific opening day or street address for the Maitland location.
Organization reports workforce growth
Pineapple said its workforce has grown more than fivefold since 2023 and that the number of new patients doubled between 2023 and 2025.
The nonprofit did not provide employee totals, patient counts or the number of positions associated with the Maitland opening.
Michelle Ochoa, a licensed practical nurse, founded Pineapple Healthcare in 2020. Its first clinic opened the following year.
