Police: Burglars stole 4 high-powered guns from Casselberry store

CASSELBERRY, Fla. — Casselberry police are looking for two people who broke into a gun shop Thursday morning and took off with some high-powered guns.

Police said the burglars broke in by smashing a window at a vacant unit next to Southern Guns on U.S. 1792, then tunneled through the dry wall to gain entry into the store.

Police said the burglars were gone in less time than it took them to get in.

In less than half a minute, the thieves ripped four AR-15 style rifles off the wall and snatched a pistol from a glass case that they toppled over.

Surveillance video caught the burglary.

“I think that it's a reflection of the current economic times and how desperate people are to get tools to do desperate things with,” said Steven Block, who owns a hobby shop close to the gun store. “I think at this point they should hopefully look into better ways to secure things.”

The burglary wasn’t the first break-in at Southern Guns.

In May, cops rushed to the store after a burglary alarm, and likely scared off two would-be burglars.

Some cases were broken, but nothing was taken.

The burglars are unrecognizable in the video because they had on hoodies, gloves and other clothing to conceal themselves.

WFTV contacted the store’s owner, but he wasn’t available.

The stolen guns are valued at $5,500.
