DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A 28-year-old Daytona Beach man’s car went up in flames Friday after he fled a traffic stop and then crashed, the Daytona Beach Police Department said.

An officer in an unmarked patrol car pulled over Andre Bullock shortly after 11:45 a.m. at North Segrave Street and San Juan Avenue near Bethune-Cookman University for having an expired temporary license plate, police said.

When the officer asked the driver to shut off his vehicle, detectives said Bullock revved his engine and took off -- before crashing into a palm tree.

The vehicle then burst into flames.

No one was injured in the crash.

Bullock was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer among other charges.
