Police: Mount Dora man attacks bar patron with sword disguised as cane

MOUNT DORA, Fla. — A Mount Dora man is facing charges after deputies said he attacked a man with a sword during a bar fight.

When police arrived at Fat Cat’s Billiards on State Road 500S Sunday night, a witness with a large laceration on his hand told police he walked out of the bathroom and saw his friend, Shane Watson, involved in some sort of confrontation with a man who had a sword that was disguised as a cane.

He said he grabbed Watson and when he did, the sword was removed from its sleeve and it cut his hand.

Watson told police that his girlfriend, who is a bartender at the business, had told Victor Calles to leave because he didn’t have an ID.

Watson said Calles left, but came back, so Watson walked the man out of the bar to make sure he didn’t come back again.

He said Calles came at him and he was pulled back by his friend.

Watson’s armed was grazed in the altercation.

The bartender, Amanda Milicic, said Calles and his brother had asked to play pool, but she needed their IDs to hold the table.

Only one of the men had an ID and it was expired, so they were asked to leave.

She said Calles began screaming obscenities at her and one said, “I will kill you,” as he waved the cane.

Calles was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
