Police: No foul play suspected involving dead man outside OPD officer's home

ORLANDO, Fla. — No foul play is suspected in the death of a man who was found a few houses down from an Orlando police officer’s home, police said. The man had just left the officer’s home on Pelican Lane in Audubon Park after a party Sunday night.

The man has been identified William S. Byers Jr., 48, police announced on Tuesday.

Police also said there is no probable cause can be established to show a criminal act and/or intent.

The medical examiner’s office has not released a cause of death. The police department said it’s awaiting those findings to make a final determination.

Police Detective John Tritt is under investigation for possible policy violations, but it’s nothing criminal, police said on Monday.

Rachel Lody, told Channel 9's Shannon Butler that she wants answers about her friend's death.

“I’m still in a lot of shock. I still just can't seem to wrap my head around it,” Lody said.

Tritt was put on administrative leave Monday while an investigation into what happened is underway.

An ex-girlfriend of Tritt's told Eyewitness News that he always had parties and he used to call his home the “honey badger playpen.”

A second person showed Eyewitness News a logo that they claim was on flyers and T-shirts for the parties.

Neighbors also said the parties were loud and there was always drinking.
