ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An 18-year-old man was shot inside an Orange County Publix on Friday afternoon and the alleged shooter is still on the run.
Police said a group of teens got into an argument near the bakery inside the store on John Young Parkway and Americana Boulevard when one of them pulled out a gun and shot the man in the neck.
The victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
Police do not know what sparked the fight.
They roped off the store with crime scene tape as they investigated the scene.
The yellow crime scene tape blocked shopper Javier Cruz from picking up pancake mix for his son.
“I can’t believe it,” Cruz said.
No one else was injured in the shooting.
“It’s almost unbelievable that something like this would happen in the middle of the day, inside where people were shopping, a day after Christmas,” said Lt. David Arenas of the Orlando Police Department.
Police said the alleged shooter is not in custody and they are looking for everyone who was involved.
Investigators don’t have much information about the teens, but they expect to have surveillance video from inside.
