ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Alicia Bromfield has been arrested and charged with unlawful sex with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Orlando police said.

The Department of Children and Families notified the Orlando Police Department on Friday that a 16-year-old male had sex with a 28-year-old female substitute teacher.

A DCF employee told investigators that an attorney from the Crenshaw school in Gotha contacted the DCF hotline about the allegations involving the teacher. Bromfield is accused of telling other employees at the school about the alleged sexual contact, police said.

Bromfield and the teen began communicating outside the classroom using the social media app Snapchat, police said. They exchanged pictures of each other taking off clothes, but they weren't nude photos, police said.

Bromfield is a  permanent substitute teacher and a full-time employee at the prep school, investigators said.

Bromfield asked the teen if she could pick him up from his house in Kissimmee, and they went back to her apartment, police said. Investigators said Bromfield gave him alcohol and the two watched a movie and had sex.

"There was alcohol involved. She provided the alcohol, he consumed it. Both parties were probably under the influence," said Orlando police Sgt. Tami Edwards.

The teen was in Bromfield's class at least two times in August before she moved to the front reception desk.

"Regardless of the society standard, there's still some form of manipulation that goes on. I mean she's 28, he's 16. The age difference is significant," Edwards said.
