SANFORD, Fla. — A vacant day care caught fire Friday morning, the Sanford Police Department said.
The fire was reported at about 8 a.m. in a historic wooden building at South Maple Avenue and West Third Street, police said.
It took firefighters more than 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

The building, which was a school before it was a day care, had been vacant for at least a year.
Records show that it's owned by someone who lives in Miami.
Police had to close a portion of South French Avenue, but it has since reopened.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No one was injured in the blaze.
