TITUSVILLE, Fla. — Workers in a popular Titusville restaurant were forced into a freezer at gunpoint during a robbery and one of the victims was pistol-whipped, investigators said.

The robbery was reported Monday night at Ice House Foods on South Washington Avenue.

Workers said the robbers stormed into the restaurant with their heads covered.

“Yeah, it was pretty scary, you know, he could have killed me if he wanted to,” said victim Curtis Black.

Black said that one of the two robbers pistol whipped him with a handgun in the back of the head.

He said it caused him to lose consciousness.

“Just for a split second, then I hit the ground. I kind of came to real quick, then they (the robbers) put me in the walk-in cooler,” Black said.

Police said the robbers locked Black and a handful of other employees in the freezer, then grabbed money from the register.

Black said he had to get staples in his head, but is otherwise OK.

He said he’s thankful the situation didn’t turn more violent, and hopes police catch the robbers soon.

Police said surveillance video captured the robbery, and they’re working on releasing it in hopes someone will recognize the gunmen.
