PORT CANAERAL, Fla. — Port Canaveral has started a $95 million expansion and renovation of Cruise Terminal 10. The project is intended to upgrade the facility to accommodate the cruise industry’s largest ships.
The work is part of a nearly $1 billion capital improvement program known as the Port Canaveral Advantage. This initiative funds facility and technology enhancements across the port, which currently hosts 18 homeported ships from seven cruise brands that operate more than 1,000 sailings annually.
PCL Construction Services, Inc., based in Orlando, is the contractor for the project. The redesigned terminal will encompass more than 145,000 total square feet, making the facility nearly 30% larger than the existing space.
The Miami-based architectural firm Bermello Ajamil designed the facility. The renovation includes a glass façade to introduce natural light, modern interiors, and colorful artwork. Updated signage, new elevators and escalators, and expanded security screening and luggage areas are being added alongside new HVAC systems.
Captain John W. Murray serves as the CEO of Port Canaveral. He stated that the upgrades focus on ensuring efficient guest arrivals and departures for cruise partners and passengers.
“We’ve taken everything we’ve learned about cruise operations to create a terminal that is highly functional and visually beautiful,” Murray said. “Our cruise business investments are highly focused on ensuring that guest arrivals and departures are comfortable, efficient, and above all, support the high-quality experience we provide for our cruise partners and their guests.”
Once the renovation is complete, the terminal will be equipped to handle ships carrying up to 6,700 passengers. These vessels currently offer itineraries ranging from weekend trips to week-long voyages.
The expansion and renovation of Cruise Terminal 10 is expected to be completed by November 2027.
