Asa learned that Central Florida Expressway Authority officials are considering making tolls a bit cheaper for ePass drivers during the construction project.
"Staff is recommending this month a discount program that is essentially an additional 5 percent around the beltway in a given month," Laura Kelly of the Expressway Authority said.
Asa found that the discounts would apply only to sections of State Road 429 from Apopka to Disney, all of State Road 414 and State Road 417 from University Boulevard to International Drive.
Expressway officials said they will consider adding discounts to State Road 408 and the Beachline Expressway in the future.
With tolls likely to increase in 2017, Asa asked the officials if the discounts will stay in place.
"These discount programs will go beyond 2017, and we expect to fully engage in these discount programs through the end of construction in 2020," Kelly said."
If the proposal is approved, the discount would go into effect July 1.
