ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Commissioners have approved plans for a new school in the rural Wedgefield area of east Orange County, but the approval comes with conditions.
The new K-8 school will be built off Bancroft Boulevard between Ortega and Paddock streets.
Many residents who were against the proposed school attended Tuesday's county commission meeting.
The residents believed a new school would bring noise and traffic to their quiet community, but district officials said there's an urgent need for a public school in the area.
The school site was approved with several conditions. One condition is that a buffer plan be submitted for adjacent properties affected by the school. Another condition is that the school's primary entrance be off Bancroft Boulevard.
