Radio call describse chaotic scene when OPD officer was dragged

ORLANDO, Fla. — A traffic stop turned dangerous when a driver wouldn’t cooperate and drove off with the officer stuck in the door frame, investigators said.

It happened earlier this week.

Channel 9 obtained a copy of the radio transmissions from the incident.

Raw: Officer attacked during traffic stop

The transmissions show the chaos at the scene at Kaley Avenue and Division Street after Orlando police Officer Richard Fink was on the ground.

His backup officer’s heavy breathing could be heard through the transmission as he called out a signal 44 for immediate backup.

“He took off, but we need OFD here. I think he’s hurt,” said Fink’s partner.  “We just need OFD here, please.”

Fink said Trayston Morgan, 36, ran a stop sign, so he stopped Morgan at a nearby Mobil gas station.

Police said Morgan did not have a license.

When Fink asked him to get out from behind the wheel, Morgan took off in his truck, trapping Fink in the door frame and dragging him.

Police said he ditched his truck nearby and ran, but they were able to identify him because they said he has the same truck as last year when he was arrested on burglary, grand theft and running from police charges.

Morgan is being held in jail on charges of aggravated battery on an officer, resisting with violence and fleeing.

His bond is set at $15,00O.
