ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A rough-toothed dolphin that stranded at Clearwater Beach Sunday morning is being treated at SeaWorld Orlando.
The 7-foot, 200-pound male dolphin was rescued by the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and brought to SeaWorld, where it’s receiving fluids and antibiotics.
“Due to the dolphin being severely weak, the animal care team is constantly monitoring the dolphin's respiration," SeaWorld said in a press release. "And four animal care experts are walking beside the dolphin 24/7 to help it gain strength.”
Rough-toothed dolphins prefer warm, deep waters and are often found near Hawaii and in the northern Gulf of Mexico, SeaWorld said.
“The dolphin will continue to receive round-the-clock care from the animal care team and more treatment will be administered if needed once results come back from blood work,” the release said.
