HASTINGS, Fla. — A road construction worker is dead after he was run over by a street sweeper truck in Hastings, authorities said.
Everett Leslie Rolfe, 69, was killed Friday.
Rolfe was flagging traffic at a Hastings intersection as the sweeper truck moved through the area, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Officials said Rolfe was walking backward when the sweeper's rear bumper hit him.
Authorities said Rolfe was dragged under the machine and into its sweeping mechanism.
