Sanford man accused of stabbing fianceé, her grandson caught in Georgia

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A Sanford man accused of stabbing his fiancé was caught Tuesday in Georgia.

Deputies said the 53-year-old man also slashed the victim's 12-year-old grandson when he tried to help her during the attack on Sept. 1 at the Seminole Pointe apartments near State Road 46.

Authorities said Cyrus tied up the 12-year-old with a plastic bag after the stabbing and stole the family's car and headed to Georgia.

Investigators said Robert Cyrus, 53, was caught because he had a medical emergency while in Georgia.

Cyrus reportedly was suffering from chest pains and shortness of breath.

Officials said first responders noticed blood on Cyrus' shirt and investigated further. Authorities later found out that Cyrus was wanted in Florida.

Investigators said Cyrus was engaged to Gwendolyn Brayboy.

They said Cyrus stabbed Brayboy in the neck, and her grandson witnessed the crime.

Cyrus was denied bond in court Tuesday.
