SANFORD, Fla. — The City of Sanford has partnered with PlanetBids to modernize its municipal procurement operations. The platform will handle approximately $64 million in annual purchasing activity for the city.
The initiative aligns with Sanford’s 2025 Five-Year Strategic Plan, which prioritizes financial stewardship, infrastructure updates, government performance, community safety, and sustainability.
The system oversees the entire procurement lifecycle, extending from solicitation creation and electronic bidding to contract administration and insurance compliance. It is also designed to maintain compliance with Florida public records and Sunshine Law requirements.
Under the platform, city departments can electronically submit solicitations using standardized templates and accept digital bid submissions. The system allows staff to conduct collaborative proposal evaluations with standardized scoring and provides document management features such as version control and collaborative editing.
The platform includes centralized vendor management, business certification tracking for contractor qualification programs, and contract management tools that track milestones, change orders, invoices, and electronic signatures.
The system also includes emergency procurement tools designed to help city officials identify qualified vendors during emergency events.
Vendors interested in working with the city can register, view open procurement opportunities, and sign up for notifications about new solicitation postings through the city’s PlanetBids vendor portal.
