SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — The Seminole County Sheriff's Office will hold its first Facebook chat Thursday at 11 a.m. The live, one-hour session will be hosted on the SCSO's Facebook page and will discuss the topic of teenage sexting and digital abuse.
Any member of the public can view and participate in the chat.
The chat is designed to answer questions from parents and the community about cell phone and Internet safety, cyber-bullying on social networks and legal issues.
The Sheriff's Office said participants will learn what is against the law and how some now commonplace activities online can turn into criminal charges.
Members of the community can also attend a class on this topic.
"Teenage Sexting and Digital Abuse: What Parents Need to Know," will be held Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. in the Sheriff's Office main office at 100 Bush Boulevard in Sanford.
To register, go to www.seminolesheriff.org.
There is no cost to attend.
The class and the Facebook chat session will be moderated by Investigator Christie Register with SCSO's Crimes Against Children Unit, who specializes in online child exploitation.
