Seminole County Fire Department hosts free grandparent safety class

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — The Seminole County Fire Department will host a free Grandparent Safety Class on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at the Seminole County Public Safety Building in Sanford.

The event is being held in honor of Grandparents Day in September. The initiative is designed to help grandparents feel prepared to keep their grandchildren safe.

The class will run from 6 pm to 8 pm. Community outreach personnel and firefighter/paramedics will instruct the session.

Instructors will teach hands-on, practical skills to prepare attendees for emergency situations and everyday care. Topics covered in the curriculum include child and infant CPR, choking emergencies, safe sleep practices, injury prevention, and basic first aid.
