SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Seminole County government officials say they’ve stopped orders of the COVID-19 vaccine because of a lack of demand.
While they’ve seen a decrease in traffic at the public COVID vaccine sites, County Emergency Manager Alan Harris says private sites like pharmacies are helping to fill the gap.

“When you put them both together, it’s been relatively steady,” Harris says.
County officials say they’re planning to concentrate vaccination efforts on smaller pods to reach low and fixed-income communities.
At two upcoming vaccination events, the county will be giving away $10 grocery store gift certificates to people who show up to get the Johnson and Johnson COVID vaccine.
The first event is being held Friday at Eastmont Park in Altamonte Springs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We have been working with private industry to come up with some types of incentives for those that may be on the fence,” Harris says. “Maybe just find the right time, and maybe this is the right time.”
Harris says if the incentives work, they could expand the program to include other businesses.
